Mosh Pit

All Major Streaming Platforms

Mosh Pit is a song about identifying challenges and differences between individuals and their situations. The only remedy is the circle, the cipher aka the mosh pit, where problems are debated and solved.

While originally written and recorded between 2016-2018, we waited until the landscape was ripe and the context made sense for a record like this. This record is actually the third of a four record series that culminates next month but began on November 3 2016 with “Breaking News”, our first "‘political’ record, although written at the time from an independent, large picture perspective.

The second record of the series was “Art Bless America” which when written (2016) and released (2019) stood as a reminder of America’s greatness to an outsider. The video (2020), however, shifts lenses drawing a clear distinction between racism, oppression, resistance, and tyranny as captured through live footage over the spring and summer. Notwithstanding our original intent, this body of works was written before its time, in order to reflect these times.

Mosh Pit which was also written in the past, for the future, could not be published without comment on the current cultural context into which it would be released. As a group, we clearly stand against racism. For our promotion video, we decided to make that point clear. For the lyric video, we decided to let the lyrics speak for themselves.

Artist production duo, Sweet Chuck Ravin Dave writes, produces, and performs music, videos, and content under Trip Digital Music, and independent record label based in NYC/LA. The two met in Gramercy, New York City during the fall of 2013, and by 2014 began writing and recording at their 19th street studio along with Super Producer DJ Journey. S.C.R.D. is named after Sweet Chuck and Ravin Dave, the two principal members of the group. Together they infuse old skool beats, live instrumentation, and witty, humorous, and slightly satirically lewd lyrics to take fans on a journey through heartbreaks with an ebullience for life and the thirst for adventure. Their collaboration between each other thrives off co-collaborating with local musicians, friends, and fans they lure into their musical tsunami, which helps drive their artistic creativity to new heights.

Art Bless America

Stream / Download / All Platforms

Art Bless America (Freedom is a Privilege)

“I wasn’t afraid to try. I wasn’t afraid to die. Gave it all I got, and I’m still trying.”

Just a snippet of lyrics from a song written by Journey Will Jackson (DJ Journey) and performed by S.C.R.D. to highlight the American mentality. (The chorus).

“It’s our time to get it right. Make love not war, alright. Don’t wait until the last minute, do it while you’re living. Because freedom is a privilege.”

From the outside looking in, our country is one the world looks to as a perfect model. Men and women have built fortunes for themselves. Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Facebook, are all trillion-dollar companies. This is what our friends around the world call the “American Dream.”

Yet, the skeletons of racism fall out of our closet every now and then. A police beating here and a biased comment there. Sweep it under the rug real quick to protect the image. I think everyone knows our past in America, but it doesn’t matter because so much greatness has come from this country. It doesn’t really matter until it matters. Now the world hears the echoes of “BLACK LIVES MATTER!”

And our friends in London say “Hell yeah, they matter! Because you gave us Hip Hop!” “Art Bless America” symbolizes the culture in America that the world respects.

“The only free nation built on creation focused on transformation for the young minds can be equal. In other words, we do this for the people.”

“Art Bless America” was written in 2015 for 2020. Our country’s greatness has outgrown its ugly past.

The world is watching America fight for something they thought we already had, equality. They are waiting on the sidelines to show us how inspirational we have been to them, and they are ready to help us create an America that can truly be great. Art will continue to bless America and eliminate hatred once and for all. Art Bless America by S.C.R.D is available on all streaming platforms.

Under A Spell

0136-180608-851x315-thehollow.png

NEW YORK, NY - On Friday, June 8, 2018 - Singer / Songwriter Bella Saona officially released sixth single from her debut album “Parousia.,” along with five remixes on the six song The Hollow EP available on Spotify and iTunes. In April, 2017, released her first studio album titled, “Parousia,” meaning presence or arrival in vinyl and digital format. The album’s title is reflective of Bella’s Paraguyan and Brazilian descent.

The Hollow is a song about not falling under the constant spell of lies being casted over us by the media, society, and when it comes to love. Its a message about questioning the norm and not accepting things at face value. Being awake. Seeing past the mirage and the manipulation. Bella's music is a mix of dance, electronic, rock and intelligent pop. It is conscious music aimed at a global audience, with no defined age. The production of the Parousia record lasted 2 years. It was a collaboration with her producer and creative director, Victor Lau.

The Hollow Remixes were each a collaboration with other artists and producers which include Stacey Ayers, Andres Diaz, Er!c Lee, and Ravin Dave (S.C.R.D.). Each collaboration was a result of relationships fostered over years and experiences, and reflect the nature of those circumstances. Bella and Victor met Ravin Dave during the summer in 2013. Since then, they have collaborated on a couple of Bella’s live performances at Beatique, CBGB Festival and a Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn block party.

About: Bella Saona

Bella began her career at age 14, with performances at different festivals and clubs in New York, Miami, Los Angeles and the UK. In 2011 she joined the record label Ultra Records, one of the most popular and recognized in the genre of electronic music. During her early years as a solo artist she worked with major English producers such as Grammy Award-winning Sandy Vee , who released her single Nobody Loves Me and Bare Noize, British producers with whom she worked on her song Off With Their Heads. Furthermore, her hits Do it Again and Off With Their Heads were included in MTV reality shows and the NCIS Los Angeles television show. A New Perspective - Someday!

On June, 30th of 2015, we release our first single record, Someday. It took only a couple of months to write, record, produce, mix and master. Just starting out we had little choice but to self publish through either Tunecore or CD Baby. We chose Tunecore, and subsequently released four more since then till now, while working on finishing our first albums worth. Fast forward to 2018, and since then, we've secured a distribution deal in partnership with Flourish$Prosper Music Group, with distribution through Empi.re. In addition, we now also distribute sound packs designed for producers by Trip Digital artists, through Sounds.com, a Native Instruments powered "sample" site.

As a result, we've taken a new perspective on releasing music and are beta testing this new approach. Someday is a simple, old school, Hip Hop style record that features a number of recording artists who actually play live across the tracks and has multiple writers. In addition to accessing new distribution methods we decided to re-release this song in an unorthodox way, not using Tunecore. Instead, we leveraged our resources and access, in order to distribute over 109 different pieces, all monetizable units of content.

Screen Shot 2018-04-16 at 8.20.18 PM.png

Here's the approach:

Through Stems.is we re-released the original release as a single with three tracks the album version, the radio version and the instrumental version. The net difference versus Tunecore was that this release cost us $49.99 less, 5% of net sound recording and publishing that results. Furthermore, Stems.is manages the distribution of royalties and publishing payments to each of the owners, writers and authors. As a result, Someday is available on Apple MusiciTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon Music, Deezer, and YouTube.

But then we took it a step further, and released our stems to the record as an EP by renaming the record as a "Remix Kit" and targeting producers, remixers and djs. The Someday (82 BPM KEY F) [REMIX KIT] features two vocal acapella, bass, piano, violin and drum stems, also available on Apple MusiciTunesGoogle Play, Amazon Music, Deezer, and YouTube.

For the trifecta, we also released a 99 sound sample pack on Sounds.com as a "Producer Pack" that feature cuts of original drums, piano, violin and bass. The violin samples feature performing artist Marissa Licata (The Fugees, Alicia Keys, Wyclef) and the bass guitar samples feature James Genus (Herbie Hancock, SNL Band). Each sample is a high-resolution slice from the final studio mix, pre-mastered.

Fashion Week Takes on Homelessness with Christina Milian, JWoww and Bravolebs.

Fashion Week Takes on Homelessness with Christina Milian, JWoww and Bravolebs.

BY HILARY GEORGE-PARKIN  FEB 10, 2017, 2:32PM EST

"A key part of the campaign, the hashtag #ItCanBeYou, is supposed to convey the idea that under different circumstances, anyone could be homeless. “I think a lot of people that are fortunate — that have support, have friends, have family — they don’t understand that a lot of times, homelessness isn’t an option, it’s a life circumstance that takes them that way,” says Guimaraes. “When you get really far down and you have no one to pick you back up, it’s hard to get back up on your own. It’s really to get people to be more compassionate.”

While they may not be walking the runway, a handful of people in attendance do have some personal experience with homelessness, including two of the night’s performers: Lucas Asher, the lead singer of the band Faulkner, and a Brooklyn rapper named Young MG.

Asher and the band Faulkner, who performed at the event.

Asher and the band Faulkner, who performed at the event.

Asher, who spent time on the streets of New York in his youth, doesn’t dwell on the negatives of his past. “I think it could happen to anybody, that's true,” he says. “But if you look at everybody here celebrating, it's not about how bad it is, it's about what's possible, so I tend to look at it in an aspirational way.” Today, he splits his time between his hometown and Venice, California, and last year his band released an EP produced by Wu Tang Clan’s RZA.

Young MG’s struggles aren’t quite behind him yet; I talk to him at the end of the night, after the last performer has packed up and the DJ is entreating the dwindling crowd to dance to a steady stream of Chris Brown and Bruno Mars. He wears a yellow hoodie and sweatpants and a backwards Yankees fitted. “I pulled up to show some love for the homeless people, because I too went through the homelessness and I'm still facing it,” he says.

“I have felonies, I'm a project kid, I've lived a hard life,” he explains, about three inches from my ear so I can hear over the music. “It's not my fault, it's the cards that I was dealt. But if you don't have a job, then it's hard to take care of yourself, to provide, to live your dreams. Everything costs money, and nobody's going to give it to you. You have to pay to get your way up, and then people will help you up.” At some point, I realize it’s the first story of homelessness I’ve heard all night. A minute later, though, he’s moved on. “Look me up on Facebook,” he says, and when I do, I see a few dozen photos and videos from the night — selfies, videos, shot after shot of Milian, and the requisite red carpet photos, though this time, without a cardboard sign in sight."

S.C.R.D. was proud to sponsor Young MG and The NYLON Project. Sweet Chuck closed out the event with a live performance of his soon to release, new single titled, "Art Bless America." This live performance featured professional dancers Dre and King Soup from Los Angeles, choreographed by King Shaw.  If you missed these two performances you're in luck, and can catch them again, along with the rest of the Campfire Crew in April, on Thursday the 20th, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Delancey, located at 168 Delancey Street, Manhattan, New York.

#BREAKINGNEWS: All Men Aren't Equal...

Open Your Eyes to the Patterns and the Sequels!

Friday, November 4, 2016 - New York City:  Breaking News is a refreshing perspective on an over saturated topic we've all seen time and again this year. Local actor and artist, Charles J. Jugans III., also known as “Sweet Chuck”, finally brings an honest “spin” on current events in “Breaking News.”

Unlike other contemporary music videos, major network news, or late night satire – Breaking News” is a real, unabashed and irreverent sketch , which happens to also be a kick ass song (the first of four singles off his forthcoming album titled, “The Adventures of…” due to release in 2017.

Sweet Chuck features Super Producer Dj Journey, and directly tackles fundamental philosophical, race, and gender and issues juxtaposed with facts and sources. In order to bring the song to life visually, the unlikely production duo enlisted New York based Rock and Roll photographer, Jason Sheldon and co-founder of S.C.R.D.Ravin Dave as co-directors to shoot and edit the short drama.

Breaking News actually goes deeper beyond that of a typical music video or even a short film. This video captures individual characters, who are playing the roles of those delivering the news. As a result each character comes to life in an authentic and  vulnerable manner; in the roles where they are not allowed to break character when reporting the worse of news stories.

The music video represents and speaks directly to today's sharing culture, the participants of which often pass along informations and react to content without digging deeper or knowing anything greater than just headlines.

Charles J. Jugans, III. is a professional actor that plays the character of Sweet Chuck, an artist and co-founder of S.C.R.D. In the past, Charles played roles in both film and music videos including:  Alanis Morissette ”Unsent” and “Lucky Days,” directed by Anglica Page, as well as been featured in “Man on the Moon,” “Finding Forrester” and  many commercials. The character of Sweet Chuck is limitless, and fans are able to live vicariously through his character and adventures.

Spotlight: S.C.R.D.'s "Phone Sext"

Shuffle Beat Music - Summer Hartley

"The intro, which can be a recognizable sound to anyone who has "done the deed" via phone call, draws you into the whole story S.C.R.D. and their talented group are about to take you on. Lyrically, "Phone Sext" is pretty much what to say during one of these steamy moments with your boo-thang, as it fully goes through someone's experience with phone sexting (even the "race to the finish" moment as your phone dies but you haven't reached that finish line, if you get what I'm saying). The college-age demographic for these guys, though, will know exactly what I'm talking about, as this is practically the epitome of what "phone sexting" is about, which makes the song lewd and real, but in an entirely good way.

Not only do the lyrics take you on a journey, but musically, the song gives a beat resembling that of "let's do the nasty" music that you may play or just hear in your head (or those R-rated romance movies with the oddly placed sex scene between your two protagonists. The delivered bass line from Genus meshes well with Harrison's piano (which you can hear really well in the instrumental) to give that feel good vibe behind the beat. And although I was skeptical of it at first, the violin delivered from Licata, which can also be heard better in the instrumental, blends in perfectly with the track to give a whole new layer to that dip of music.

Oddly enough, I see myself listening to "Phone Sext" again in the future, even if it's not my typical taste of music. Is it for the phone sexting tips/how-to? Is it for the sexy music that makes me just wanna vibe? Is it for the sultry vocals?

Well that's only for me to know."

S.C.R.D. Teams up with Hip Video Promo

NYC’s very own S.C.R.D., whose old school rock star vibe and fresh new hip hop beats have been hailed as a mashup of unlikely styles that delivers a deliciously guilty pleasure worthy of heavy indulgence. They say what you wanted to say, but never did. And they execute the recording in a smooth and sophisticated way that seductively lures viewers into a catchy, irreverent fun hook, that is neither Petula Clark nor Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to the faintest bit. In fact, S.C.R.D. delivers a whole new sound with this record.

S.C.R.D. is named after Sweet Chuck and Ravin Dave, the two principal members of the group based in Gramercy, Manhattan. Together they infuse old skool beats, live instrumentation and witty, humorous and slightly satirically lude lyrics to take fans on a journey through heartbreaks with an ebullience for life and the thirst for adventure. Their collaboration between each other, thrives off co-collaborating with local musicians, friends and fans they lure into their musical tsunami, which helps drive their artistic creativity to new heights.

On their newest single “Downtown,” they once again teamed up with the “Mermaid,” world renowned violinist, Marissa Licata to craft an exquisite tale of temptation, dedication, and pure, unabashed urban fun and frolic through her violin’s voicing. Locking in the groove, this dynamic duo tapped Eddy Eyeball the former bassist of the 2 Skinnee J’s along with the vocals of a young, talented singer/songwriter named EMCity.

For the “Downtown” video, Sweet Chuck and Ravin Dave examine that fragile balance between the daily grind of work life, social obligations and the difficulties of finding time for personal relationships. The video begins with superstar NYC producer Journey dropping by to try to get Chuck to the studio, but he’s preoccupied and heading downtown. Then life begins to imitate art, and art blurs life, the nights get longer, and the stakes get higher. When heading “Downtown,” sometimes the night doesn’t end, when the day begins.

We are thrilled to be working with S.C.R.D.! Please get in touch with us here at HIP Video Promo if you would like more info… You can call (732)-613-1779 or email us at info@HIPVideoPromo.com . You can also visit http://www.SCRDnyc.com or http://www.TripleDigitalInc.com for more info.

Music, Release

When love turns to lust...

Gramercy, New York City, NY (September 15, 2015) - S.C.R.D. (Sweet Chuck Ravin Dave) officially released their second studio single, titled “Downtown” on Tuesday, September 15, 2015.

The unsigned, musical storytelling duo’s record release includes three versions (Explicit, Radio, Instrumental) and will be available via a year-long contract with TuneCore for global distribution across iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Direct, eMusic, Spotify and other major retailers.

S.C.R.D. explains that “Downtown” is the next chapter of the story following heartbreak in L.A. and returning to #NYCity for the summer. This song is all about lusting someone and the lust turning into love, but then not being ready to handle the commitment with so many professional and personal obligations at the given moment. As a result, hearts break as both parties struggle with reality, emotion and passion -something we can all relate to.

“It’s funny,” remarks Ravin Dave, “this song just happened right after “Someday” released. Literally, it was 5:30 A.M. after a long night of concepting a couple of other new songs, EMCity had just passed out and Sweet Chuck was walking out when it just happened:

Ravin Dave: “Got ur keys in your pocket?”

Sweet Chuck:  “Ready to rock-it!”

Ravin Dave:  “With your cellie in-hand?”

Sweet Chuck, Ravin Dave:  “And our girlies on standby!”

Ravin Dave says, “At that moment we both looked at eachother and blurted out, write that shit down! We then laid down the guitar and initial beat.

“We needed lyrics so we pulled up a couple of text conversations to fill-in verses and recorded a reference. The next couple days we fleshed out the rest of the story and lyrics. Initially we did not intend to include piano or strings, but Sweets sent a text requesting some piano to support the choruses.

Our initial thought was to call on Benny Harrison for the piano, but then I decided to take a crack at it for 24-hrs. That weekend, I fleshed out the piano after some inspiration from an amazing musician and friend Mark Rechler. That following week we were in the studio recording the instrumentation.”

Following in the vein of their first record, S.C.R.D. called upon their deep network of professional friends to help produce and record. Most notably world renowned violinist Marissa Licata, who has performed on their first record (and with the likes of Alicia Keys, Ben Harper, Ringo Starr, Dave Stewart of Eurythmics, Gloria Estefan, Pras of the Fugees, Jermaine Paul, Elle Varner, Gaby Wilson) signed on for a second.

To play bass, they brought Eddie Eyeball of NYC's multi-cultural alternative rap group 2 Skinnee J’s back to his hip-hop roots.  More recently he has played in Gordon Gano’s (The Violent Femmes) solo band and with retro-futurist musician/artist Vic Thrill.  Currently plays in Valley Lodge, the NYC power-pop band whose song “Go!” is the theme song for HBO’s “Last Week with John Oliver” as well as in the “Meet Me in the Bathroom & Tell Me All Your Secrets” all-star house band backing artists such as Har Mar Superstar, Bridget Everett, and Jenny Lewis.

To help steer the recording process, S.C.R.D. again brought in the talent of upcoming superstar producer Dj Journey who helped rebuild drums and coach vocal production in addition to providing spiritual guidance and industry insight. Dj Journey s also the founder of Trip Digital Inc., an independent record label and music licensing company.

It’s clear from both the “Someday” and “Downtown”, why this is a highly creative and collaborative duo features participating artists as much or even sometimes more than themselves. And this approach, is definitely paying off, at least in terms of overall sonic quality of the record. Falling somewhere between Hip Hop, Pop and RnB, this duo has created a fun new kind of sound that hits the listener a bit deeper than most of the mainstream, electronically produced songs. Whether it’s the rolling basslines, voicing of the violin, melodic quality of the verses and choruses or overall production, these guys have got something going here… Only time will tell how far it will go or where this little journey will take us!
